(Actif dans la scène de Montréal)
(La biographie est seulement disponible en anglais) Unlike a lot of jazz musicians today, Phil`s background and upbringing were classical. In his teens he leaned towards one of his favorite influences at that time, American rock. His main claims to fame in Montreal are in the rock idiom.
In the early seventies he performed on the first. Third and fifth album of the Montreal group "Mahogany rush", played and later recorded albums with Michel Pagliaro, Dionysos, Le temps, and numerous other albums and general sessions. He tended much more towards studio work and arranging than live performing.
During this time his tastes and musical moods were diversifying. In the mid 70=s he went to the Berklee school of music in Boston for 2 years to further study arranging .From that point on started playing with swing and latin musicians, enjoying the greater challenge and newness it provided for him.
From then till the late eighties his musical exploits were scattered as he focused on other venues, travelling extensively and living in other countries. In 1987 he returned to music full time in Montreal and got known around town again. In 88 and 89 he studied at the McGill faculty of music in the jazz department with the focus on performing rather than arranging. At that time He played full time at the Ile de France down the street from McGill and did lots of subbing in various clubs, hotels and restaurants. He continued recording and started building his own digital studio. In 1990 he started working in showbands on cruise ships and spent his time off recording and perfecting his studio knowledge, gear and techniques. He now avoids ships and travelling, concentrating mainly on studio projects including his own album but enjoys occasional live work.
