WINNER OF THE OPUS AWARD 2000-2001 – « CONCERT OF THE YEAR - JAZZ AND WORLD MUSIC »
We are proud to announce that the Montreal Jazz Big Band under the direction of Philippe Hudon, has won the 2001 Opus Award for "The Concert of the year - Jazz and World music »
This prize was part of the fifth annual Opus Awards held on November 25, 2001 at l'Usine C, in Montreal..
The award was won based on the merits of the June 29, 2001 concert at the Lion d'Or - "Montreal Jazz Big Band at the Off jazz festival"..
The OPUS award was created by the "Conseil Québécois de la Musique" (an organisation which brings together the principal participants in the field of concert music).
This gala is held to reward the excellence of individuals and groups in the different styles of concert music repertoire in Quebec: medieval, baroque, classical, modern, "musique actuel", contemporary, electroacoustic, jazz and world music.
