DAN
NOSEWORTHY
THE METROPOLITAN JAZZ COMPANY
a morphogenetic musical ensemble manifesting modular form
The Metropolitan
Jazz Company is a collective of musical units
under the artistic direction of guitarist/composer Dan Noseworthy.
It represents
the DND, DNT, the DNQ, the DNQ+1 and South Brigus
(respectively, the Dan Noseworthy Duo, Trio, Quartet, Quintet and
Noseworthy's newest unit, a 12-string guitar trio with
contrabassist Michel Donato and drummer/percussionist Yvon Plouffe).
At its core
are two sticks of DNT:
one each with contrabassists
Frédéric Alarie and Normand Guilbeault,
and both with drummer
Pierre Tanguay.
Over the
past decade some of the foremost creative musicians in Montreal have
complimented, augmented and ignited the aural munitions of DNT
and other units of The Metropolitan Jazz Company. These include
pianist Jan Jarczyk, saxophonists Rémi Bolduc and Jean Derome and
Frank Lozano, trumpeter Ivanhoe Jolicoeur, vocalists Tena Palmer and
Madeleine Theriault, guitarist Eric St-Laurent, contrabassists Guy Boisvert
and
Norman Lachapelle, and drummers Michel Lambert and Paul Léger.
Other projects involving artistic director Dan Noseworthy have included
performances in Toronto with such artists as saxophonist Kirk MacDonald
and contrabassists Kieran Overs, Don Thompson and Jim Vivian.
The Metropolitan Jazz Company's latest project is the launch of DNT's debut CD "Live and at Great Risk".
